What an enthralling listen. It occurred to me that in terms of the question of sea trout ever returning the the famous fisheries in the previous numbers, we lose sight of temporal perspective. The salmon farms will be gone or moved or greatly improved at some time and climate trends wax and wane in ways that ( in my view having read the work of once-highly regarded geologists who dispute the narrative, to their cost) have nothing to do with human activity. We are here and now but the trout have hundreds of generations' experience of adapting to differing pressures both natural and human. As long as those systems can sustain wild brown trout there seems every reason to hope that when conditions are right again, the genetic drive to venture out to salt water will still be there deep in the DNA of some of those fish. It might be many decades and something this generation doesn't witness, but so be it. Just a personal view!
